ADD, ADHD, or Overstimulation?

Is it really ADD or ADHD?  All too often we have medical doctors diagnosing ADD or ADHD when it’s just plain overstimulation.  And they are totally missing the Indigos (if they even know about them.)  Giving Indigo kids or teens Ritalin or Adderall is not the way to go!  We don’t need to create drug dependency in our youngsters — plus there are better ways to go.   It’s so easy to write a prescription, and NOT so easy to do the right thing instead — which might involve some or all of the following:

— Find out whether your child truly has ADD or ADHD, or if they are Indigo, or if they are Indigo AND have challenges with attention or focus.  It’s important to find out what’s going on, so that you can make a wise choice about how to provide the best solutions.

These days everyone is bombarded with stimulation from every direction: TV, computers, electronic games, music, Ipods, street noise, and more.  Is it any wonder that our kids — particularly the sensitive ones — can’t cope?

After thorough investigation you can determine that it really is ADD or ADHD, or if you know that you have an Indigo or Crystal child, start with some of the proven natural and holistic methods first.

  • Biofeedback. There are new devices you can wear on your wrist or around a finger. to help you self-monitor your energy and behavior.
  • Find out which kind of learner your child is.  A kinesthetic learner is not going to be sitting still while they learn; and a visual learner might need color to sort things properly in their mind.  Discover the learning style so that you can work with the teachers to give them the best outcomes.
  • Remove overstimulation from the environment.  Limit TV and electronics, and get them out into Nature more often.
  • Adjust their diet.  If they are taking in sugar and carbs rather than a complete, balanced, and high-energy diet, they won’t be able to function well. Period.  Do it in stages if you must, but get them eating and drinking whole, healthy foods — and remove the junk food and fast foods from “the plate.”
  • Use high-quality supplements and greens, to help their energy levels stay consistent.
  • Give them appropriate (and adequate) opportunities for physical exercise.  They MUST move their growing bodies, to build muscle and neurological connections they need to be healthy kids.  And they need appropriate outlets to discharge “extra” energy.

— Give your child or teen the support they REALLY need, for their electrical systems.  Feed them wholesome foods and cut out the junk food (sodas, french fries and chips, candy, cookies, processed foods of all kinds.)  Give them whole foods and organic foods with real nutrients in them.    Give them holistic supplements including greens and spirulina, to provide high quality energy.

— Give them unstructured play time, and a lot of time in the natural world with trees, grass, flowers, water, and rocks.  They NEED the connection, to feel safe and to remember their connections.

— Don’t fill their every waking moment with activity. They need equal parts of rest and play, to be able to better use their minds and their creaivity.  Let them make up their own games in free play time with others (supervised in some way but from a bit of a distance so that they are responsible for what happens.  The adult can step in only when need be as a referee or to provide a time-out should it be needed.)

— Give them flower essences.  All children can benefit from flower essences, but kids with ADD or ADHD — and definitely Indigo kids and teens — absolutely require them.  For Indigo kids, they are in contact with (and affected by) more subtle energy fields than other kids;  and their systems need special support that they can’t get any other way.  Flower essences can help them assilimate and balance their own energies, and be more able to process the external energies they sense from outside their own physical bodies.

This month I just made a great new flower essence formula called Pure Focus, which works for kids with ADD and ADHD, to help them stay focused despite distractions, to be able to concentrate on whatever they choose, and to retain what they learn longer.  For kids with ADD or ADHD, Pure Focus is the inner support they need while you as the parent work with getting their outer environment aligned better *removing distractions, junk food, giving them free play time, and enough physical exercise.)

If your child is also Indigo or Crystal, they may also need Indigo Support formula.  This formula helps them stabilize their own emotions and electrical field when it’s challenged by too much stimulation from any source.  They will like this one a great deal and ask you for it when they need it!

Most of all, stay away from pharmaceuticals unless they are absolutely necessary.  The only thing they do is to make your child into a zombie! Drugging is never the best answer – only a seemingly convenient one.  As the parent, you are responsible for making wise choices for your child.  Make sure you have examined ALL the alternatives before you choose.  And make sure above all that it’s in the CHILD’S best interests, not yours.

09-09-09: Raise the Vibrations

Heads up on an interesting thing coming up in September.  NASA scientists are planning to make an “energy map” of the earth, from space.  There is an initiative to work consciously to raise the energy fields of the planet, to see if they can measure it from that far away.

Keeping Up With The Energy Shifts ~ Or Not

These days things change so fast, it’s sometimes hard to keep up, let alone calibrate what’s going on and what it means — on a personal level as well as for our human consciousness.  That’s why I like to read other blogs and check in on what others are noticing; often their reflections mirror my own, and give me some validation.

One of the sites I like for this is Karen Bishop’s What’s Up On Planet Earth (which now has a new web site called Emerging Earth Angels.)  Her latest post talks about the kind of strange “lull” some of us have been feeling, where projects are stalled, things seem to be at a complete stand-still, and equipment doesn’t work right.

For instance, my flagship web site was down for more than 48 hours from Sunday to Tuesday because of a major server failure; one of my clients cancelled her call because she just had a “blue screen of death” on her computer and had to send for a new hard drive to replace it — thank goodness for backup!  (Hey — you ARE backing up your systems and your data, aren’t you?  Make sure you do!)  And so on.  These things keep happening, and rather than become frustrated by them, it’s easier just to check out the energy flows and to see what’s happening on a larger scale.  The perspective is helpful.

And frankly, so is the rest!  We’ve been moving at quite the speed lately, and working hard in multiple dimensions.  We truly have earned a rest.  But sometimes it feels like I’m all geared up with nowhere to go!  Ever have that feeling?

Indigo Vibrations, Thriving, And More

Lately readers have been sending a lot of great questions to me personally, and rather than answer each one of them individually, I thought it might make more sense to post them here and respond so that everyone could benefit — and participate in the conversation.

The latest round has to do with how Indigos are vibrating, and the relationship between what we hold and know as the ideal ~ and what happens when we discover others here on the planet who are:

  • not awake yet
  • not aware of the harm they are causing to others
  • seemingly unwilling to cooperate with the enormous changes in transforming systems and societies so that how we live is of benefit to all living things

Yeah, there’s a LOT to be said about this!  And my answers just might make a very long post.

Overloaded? How To Deal With Energy Overloads

With all the accelerated energies and interdimensional shifts going on, it’s all too easy to feel overloaded with too much energy to process.

What to do?

There are a couple of simple steps you can do to quickly and safely “power down” and get back to center.

  • Get out into Nature and allow the natural world to help you release what’s “more than you need” — and to help you take in more of what you DO need instead of the frenetic, scrambled energies that you may have taken on from the outside world.
  • Take time to be still.  Remove yourself from the noise (including TV, MP3 players, radio, and all electronic gadgets.)  Unplug yourself and go to a place without noise or commotion.  If the only place you can find that is in the bathroom, so be it!  It will work 🙂
  • Meditate.  It doesn’t have to be a formal practice with you on a cushion like a Zen monk.  Just find something to focus on for a period of at least 10-15 minutes a day (a candle flame, a bowl of water, a flower. . . things like that.)  Ideally you can work up to half an hour.  But start with SOMETHING!  Just do it.  You need to find a way to calm and discipline your mind.

And finally, my favorite technique of all.  Go hug a tree!  Here’s why.  The tree can accept what you don’t need, and put it into the Earth for recycling.  This helps everyone.

Put your arms around a tree (any tree will do, as long as it’s big enough for you to wrap your arms around.)  Concentrate on the extra energies you are feeling, and ask the tree to receive the “overload” of the energies you would like to release ~ and request that the tree funnel the energy back down into the earth through its roots.

This is easy to do, is not harmful for the tree, and helps to make the energies you release available for whatever the Earth needs.  And yes, the Earth can handle this 🙂  Really.

Don’t sit there freaking out about feeling overloaded.  There are simple, practical things you can do.

So go do them!  And tell your friends.
